Anatomy and Physiology programs have been developed in response to industry demand and are specifically designed to equip graduates with work-ready skills. Each participant will be trained and assessed in theory and in practical tasks. Real-world exercises are used throughout the program.
Why study Anatomy and physiology?
Anatomy is the study of the structure of organs and organ systems and physiology is the study of organism function. We offer a range of courses with a specialisation in human anatomy and physiology. High quality resources and state-of-the-art technology support our teaching.
Graduates are prepared for work in administration, health promotion, information management, marketing, research and evaluation, and non-clinical aspects of client management. Work may be in government departments and agencies, hospitals, community health centres, rehabilitation centres, geriatric care agencies, pharmaceutical companies and private health-care organisations.
In this course, before we investigate the gross anatomical structures of the body, we learn about the individual units that make up all tissues; cells. Many vital processes occur in the cell. Different cells have different structures, numbers of organelles and so on, to enable them to perform their specific functions. These cells together form tissues which in turn group to form organs and organ systems that combine different cell types to enable systems to perform coordinated functions.
In order to investigate systemic and regional anatomy later in the course, it is first important that we look at the microscopic anatomy of cells. We will start by discussing common organelles and structures, before examining some of the specialised structures found in some cell types. There are a range of basic functions that are common to most cells in the body, along with a range of specialist functions performed by specific cells or cell types. This course will investigate a range of these common processes as well as studying the structures that make up the body.

Studies prove, time and again, that college-educated workers earn more than those with only a high school qualification. College graduates often enjoy additional benefits, including greater job opportunities and promotions. Though the proof for greater earning potential exists, some might wonder whether the cost of the education warrants the overall expense in the long run.
College Graduate vs. Non-Graduate Earnings
The National Centre for Education Statistics (NCES) analyses employee earnings data biennially, according to education level. Findings indicate that workers with a qualification earn significantly more than those without. Since the mid-1980s, education has played a large part in potential wages, with bachelor's degree holders taking home an average of 66% more than those with only a high school diploma do. While college-educated workers' wages have increased over the past two decades, those with only a high school education have seen decreases in annual salaries in the same time period (nces.ed.gov).
